ā10 stitches, a busted lip, and maybe a cracked ribā
This is not CNN or BBC News. Letās see what we can take from this.
If you havenāt heard, Isaac Chulu Chinn is a Muay Thai fighter and entrepreneur whoās currently training at Sit-Thailand Muay Thai Gym in Chiang Mai. Heās a former lawyer who was earning a comfortable wage but left it all behind to pursue his dreams of fighting in Thailand.
āļøJust over a week ago, he fought at Kun Khmer Stadium in Cambodia, with two Khun Khmer soldiersā¦ and the promoter in his corner. Isaac knocked his opponent in the first round and cut him, in round 2 Isaac got cut, and in round 3 he received a 10-8 which lost him the decision.
What can we learn from this?
He had traveled alone this fight, and documented his journey on his social media.
He previously said -āIāll never fight in ONE championship, Iāll never become a stadium champion and Iāll probably never achieve anything remarkable in Muay Thaiā
šļøāSo why do I do it?ā I love Muay Thai, the good moments and the bad moment. I like getting a little bit better every day. And like many people, I dreamed of fighting in Thailand. Just imagine a whole stadium cheering my name. Once I had achieved that goal, I wanted to see how far I could take it. Many people give up on their hopes and dreams. Iām not special, and hopefully I can show that you can do it tooā.
š”š Despite knowing heāll never reach the pinnacle of the sport, he still wakes up at 6am every day to run, fights for little to no money, and willingly risks his life in the ring.
This is a man who could easily trade it all for a comfortable life, chilling on a beach in Koh Samui, enjoying early retirement, and just thrive off the success of his business.
Yet, he chooses the grind, the sacrifice, and the fight. Why? Because passion and purpose mean more to him than ease or safety.
Trust Your Plan, Even When Doubts Creep In
Not sure if youāre ready for an upcoming bout? Stressing about your businessās future? Or having anxiety about starting a new gym?
Life is bound to test you once in a while. These feelings of doubt are inevitable, but they are nothing but opportunities to prove your strength.
Lay out a solid game plan, and stick to it, even when the road gets bumpy. This is what separates those who succeed from those who donāt.
š”Every champion, every successful person, has had to bite the bullet and push forward despite the uncertainty they felt.
Trust yourself. As long as youāre moving toward your goalās general direction, youāre fine. Just keep moving. Thereās a reason only a few are built to handle it all. Will you be one of them?
